David Beckham doesn’t deserve a place in England’s greatest XI and even Harry Kane was a ‘better passer’ than him, talkSPORT say.
In a debate with Drivetime host Andy Goldstein, former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy added that he doesn’t believe ‘Golden Balls’ is a world-class player either.
Beckham has represented his country at five major tournaments. He has 115 appearances, 17 goals and 42 assists with the Three Lions to his name.
He also captained the side and scored some stunning goals, including against Greece in 2001 – the free-kick in stoppage time sending the Three Lions to the 2002 World Cup.
Cundy also asked where he would fit in Gareth Southgate’s current squad.
On Beckham’s place, Cundy said: “It depends on the form of the team, doesn’t it too? Where does Beckham play in the [midfield] Three?
“It’s the best ball centerer I’ve ever seen, for wide area balls, [Ruud] van Nistelrooy used to lick his lips.
“And I think of Kane now. If you are Kane now his movement is good and you see the telepathy he has with [Heung-min] Son, you can imagine in an English shirt if him and Becks what that might look like.

Not only is Kane an outstanding finisher, but an incredible passer, as Son and other Tottenham team-mates have discovered.
But Beckham was arguably the passing king, however, when asked by Goldstein which of Beckham and the No. 9 Three Lions was a better ball distributor, Cundy replied: “Kane.
“I think Kane is one of the best passers, Kane’s passing is amazing.”
Man United fan Goldstein said in response: “Beckham used to take the ball just past Gary Nevillle and throw it 70/80 yards in the opposite direction and it would land on whoever was on the left side.”
Cundy replied, “I think there’s nothing to it, Kane is so good.
“David Beckham’s career in England lasted too long, I thought his career lasted too long.
“Pomp David Beckham, he’s in the team and he probably finds a way in the team, but if you play a three, where do you play Beckham?
“He is not [one of the very best]. It’s the best cruiser I’ve ever seen, but I’d rather have Sterling. Sterling has scored more goals than Beckham.
“In his pomp of course he was in every squad sheet, but I felt Beckham had been in the England squad for too long.
“Does he enter before [Phil] Fode? I think Foden is more creative than Beckham.
“We didn’t even see Foden’s pump.
“Beckham was a brilliant footballer for England, he wasn’t world class, he’s not England’s best XI ever, he isn’t, not for me.”
