Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama claimed Masters glory last year

Matsuyama finished ten under par to win the green jacket ahead of Xander Schauffele, Jordan Spieth, Jon Rahm and England’s Justin Rose.

With The Open being the last major tournament played last July, golf fans had to be patient for the return of elite action.

But the 2022 Masters is fast approaching and the world’s best will be eager to do it again at the famed Augusta National.

The Masters: Start date and time

The 86th edition of the Masters will be held from Thursday, April 7 for Sunday April 10.

It will take place, as always, at the beautiful Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.

Play is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. UK time (8:00 a.m. in Georgia) on both opening days and 4:00 p.m. UK time on weekends. Times will be confirmed closer to the tournament.

The Masters: TV Channel and Live Stream

Sky Sports Masters will once again show the action in the UK while the BBC is also set to show highlights from the evening.

talkSPORT will also have the best of the action from Augusta throughout the week.

Augusta National will play a record 7,510 yards for this year’s Masters

The Masters: Curriculum changes

Augusta National will play a record 7,510 yards for this year’s Masters after two holes were extended.

The length of the 11th ‘White Dogwood’ has been increased from 505 to 520 metres, while the 15th ‘Firethorn’ has been increased from 530 to 550 metres.

This means the 11th par four is longer than the 510-yard “Azalea” par five 13th, a hole that may be lengthened in the future after Augusta National purchased land from the adjacent Augusta Country Club in 2017.

Fans will eagerly await the action at the infamous par-3 12th ‘Golden Bell’ and the finishing hole, the par-4 18th ‘Holly’.

The Masters: Tee Times

Tee times for rounds 1 and 2 will be confirmed on Wednesday, April 6 before the action begins the following day.

The cut will then be made after play ends on Friday and Saturday’s pairings and tee times will be announced.

This year, two-time champion Tom Watson will join fellow legends Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player for the opening ceremonial tee off on Thursday morning.
