Crystal Palace’s Zaha breaks personal best with strike against Leicester City

The Ivorian international surpassed his previous form for the Eagles in the victory over the Foxes

Crystal palace striker Wilfried Zaha has scored his eighth Premier League goal of the season against Leicester City Monday, already surpassing his record for the entire 2019-20 season.

The 28-year-old was entitled to his 14th league appearance this season and his 200th start since teaming up with the Eagles.

The advance of the fleet made an important contribution to Roy Hodgson’s men to help them avoid defeat at Selhurst Park.

the Ivory Coast international gave his team the lead after Nigeria International Kelechi Iheanacho missed a glorious opportunity to open the scoring for Leicester from the penalty spot.

Zaha stole the ball into the back of the net past hapless goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel after receiving a nice pass from Andros Townsend.

The striker has thus surpassed his performances last season for the Eagles, where he managed four goals in 38 appearances in the Premier League.

Zaha remains an influential figure at Crystal Palace and has helped the club avoid relegation on several occasions with his eye-catching displays.

The striker’s consistent form for Palace has seen him linked with a number of Premier League clubs, but the Eagles have managed to keep him.

The draw moved Crystal Palace to 13th place in the Premier League table with 19 points in 16 games.

Zaha hopes to continue his impressive performances and help Palace end their winless run when they face Sheffield united January 2.

The forward is also a key member of Cote d’Ivoire and has made 18 appearances for the West African country since his debut in 2017.

He played an important role in his team’s quest to qualify for 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
