ZAGREB, Croatia — A Polish-registered bus skidded on a highway in northern Croatia on Saturday morning, killing at least 11 people and injuring several others, police said.
Croatian police said on Twitter that “in the skid of a bus with Polish license plates, according to initial information from the field, 11 people died and several were injured.”
The accident happened at 05:40 a.m. local time (0340 GMT) about 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of the Croatian capital, Zagreb, on the busy A-4 highway during peak tourist season.
Rescue teams were sent to the scene of the accident, Croatian media reported. No other details were immediately available.
