Cristiano Ronaldo made it a year as a steward by gifting her his jersey after hitting her with a ball during the warm-up for Manchester United’s Champions League loss to Young Boys.
All eyes were on the Portugal icon, just after two goals in his second Premier League debut as the Red Devils kick off their 2021/21 campaign in Europe.
Ronaldo put United in the lead, although they stumbled to a dramatic 2-1 loss as Aaron Wan-Bissaka was sent off and Jesse Lingard yelled at the last minute to deliver the game-winning goal.
But Ronaldo made his mark even before the game started in Switzerland.
Realizing that a female staff member had been hit by a stray bullet – which he allegedly hit – at the Stade de Suisse, the 36-year-old jumped over the barrier to watch her.
The flight attendant was already receiving medical treatment and the forward spent a moment talking to him before resuming the warm-up.
And after the game, the 36-year-old probably made the Year of the Steward by presenting her shirt to her – and she was obviously absolutely delighted with the gift.
Ronaldo was making his 177th Champions League appearance, tying the record held by Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas.
The United striker is already the competition’s all-time top scorer and added to that by scoring his 135th Champions League goal in the 13th minute.
This means the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has already scored three goals in two games since returning to Old Trafford, although the third was a shocking loss.
