Conor McGregor has once again insulted Islam Makhachev ahead of his next fight.
The lightweight champion prepares to defend his title in a highly anticipated rematch with featherweight king Alexander Volkanovki at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi on Saturday night.
During his UFC career, Makhachev often found himself in McGregor’s crosshairs due to his close relationship with Khabib Nurmagomedov, who shared a fierce rivalry with the Irishman before retiring in 2020.
On Wednesday, “Notorious” took to social media to hurl a familiar insult at Makhachev, tweeting: “This guy is a gumbeen. This is what happens when cousins have sex and have a child together. This is the result. »
McGregor’s comments were posted in response to a video of Makhachev complaining about heavyweight champion Jon Jones being ranked as the number one pound-for-pound fighter on the UFC roster.
“That’s what UFC champions have to do, like a true champion. If you’re a true champion, you have to fight this fight, no matter how many days (or) who it is.

“They put him (Jones) number one. Number one right now (but) who has he beaten in his last five fights? We don’t have any names in the top pound-for-pound rankings.
“I just want to say about the rankings, they’re bulls*** and I don’t follow them anymore.”
McGregor’s comments do not appear to be related to Mahkachev’s stance on the UFC rankings, as this is not the first time he has insulted the Dagestani fighter.
Last year, the former UFC double-weight champion shared an image titled “The Makhachevs” that showed what appeared to be a nipple on someone’s leg with the caption: “When your parents are cousins” .
“Notorious” made a similar jibe following Makhchev’s quick win over perennial contender Dan Hooker at UFC 267 in October 2021.
McGregor tweeted: “He’s his cousin uncle’s son and you can tell. Congratulations because because.
McGregor may never get the chance to face Nurmagomedov, but he could get revenge on his rival by beating the man billed as his protégé.
“Mystic Mac” hasn’t fought since breaking his leg at UFC 264 in July 2021, but he is expected to return against Michael Chandler in a fight expected to take place in the first half of 2024 .
A win sets McGregor, the sport’s biggest star, up for virtually any fight he wants and it appears Makhachev is at the top of his wish list.
