Clorox warned Monday of a significant financial impact from ongoing production disruptions caused by a cyberattack last month.
The company, which makes its namesake whitening products and Pine-Sol, among other household items, also said it did not have an estimate of when it would be able to fully resume operations.
The cybersecurity breach will impact first-quarter results due to product outages and delays, Clorox said.
Nonetheless, the company said it believed the threat was contained. The company plans to begin upgrading systems next week and reach full production “over time.”
Clorox revealed the attack on August 14, saying its systems had been hacked. After learning of the attacks, the company took its systems offline and called in law enforcement.
Now, a month later, the attack is still causing “large-scale disruption” to the company’s operations, according to a Clorox filing. While the systems are under repair, the company has had to move to a manual mode for many of its procedures. As a result, the company has reduced order processing, meaning fewer products are hitting store shelves.
The Clorox breach comes as Las Vegas casino companies MGM and Caesars face cyberattacks of their own. MGM also warned of a potential material impact on its finances.
Clorox shares traded down about 1% on Monday.
