CIBC donates $250,000 and provides financial assistance to support communities in Atlantic Canada and Eastern Quebec affected by Hurricane Fiona

TORONTO, September 26, 2022 /CNW/ – CIBC announced today that it is donating $250,000 to support disaster relief efforts in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labradorand of Quebec Îles-de-la-Madeleine, following the devastation of Hurricane Fiona, which displaced and left hundreds of thousands of people without power and affected critical infrastructure.

“The destruction wrought by Hurricane Fiona this past weekend is unprecedented and has left hundreds of thousands of our fellow Canadians in dire need of support,” said Laura Dottori-Attanasio, Group Head, Personal and Business, CIBC. “We stand alongside the communities of Atlantic Canada and Eastern Quebec as they navigate these difficult circumstances, and join our customers and team members in supporting immediate recovery efforts. »

The donation includes $150,000 to the Canadian Red Cross in response to their appeal, and $100,000 for immediate distribution to local charities to directly support affected communities as they begin their rebuilding efforts.

In addition, CIBC is providing financial assistance, advice and support to affected clients around the world. Atlantic Canada and Eastern Quebec, including the following:

  • Reamortize mortgages to reduce payments
  • Specific terms of payment and deferral of loans and lines of credit
  • Converting Aventura® Points to Cash for Applicable Credit Cards
  • Debt consolidation for more manageable payments

CIBC invites Canadians to help those in need by donating to the Canadian Red Cross. Funds raised will enable them to provide essential emergency assistance in response to this disaster, as well as related and future disasters.

CIBC is also accepting donations from the public to the CIBC Foundation’s Atlantic Canada Relief Fund, which will help several local organizations provide relief, recovery and resilience activities through Atlantic Canada and Eastern Quebec.
