Country star Chris Stapleton is interrupting his tour on doctors’ orders to recover from bronchitis and laryngitis.
“To all my friends in Corpus Christi, Houston and Lafayette, I am truly sorry to let you know that I cannot perform this weekend’s concerts,” the Grammy winner said in a statement released Wednesday on his Instagram page.
He added that according to “doctor’s orders,” he is on vocal rest.
“I am grateful for your patience and understanding, and I hope to see you all in November,” the statement said.
Stapleton was scheduled to play the Texas and Louisiana shows starting Thursday, but will now resume his tour Oct. 19 in San Antonio.
All tickets for canceled shows will be honored for the rescheduled dates, according to Stapleton’s release. The rescheduled dates are November 16 in Lafayette, November 17 in Houston and November 18 in Corpus Christi.
It also noted that ticket holders who cannot attend the new dates should “contact your point of purchase within the next seven days.”
The “Tennessee Whiskey” singer was also forced to postpone his 2021 concerts after falling ill with laryngitis. He rescheduled shows in Nashville and South Dakota after sharing that he had been placed on vocal rest by his doctors.
Stapleton is one of country music’s most celebrated artists, having won eight Grammys and 17 nominations after bursting onto the scene in 2015 with his hit debut album “Traveler.”
His new album “Higher” will be released on November 10.
