Chilling video shows SUV hanging off a California cliff after going off the road in torrential downpour

A motorist had to be rescued after his car left the road and swung dangerously over a California cliff during a winter storm.
Firefighters were called to the incident in La Jolla, near San Diego, amid reports that a car had gone into the ocean in torrential rain.
When first responders arrived on the scene Saturday afternoon, they found a white Cadillac Escalade partially suspended over the Pacific on rocks under the road.
Due to a cliff rescue after a collision with a vehicle, Coast Blvd between Prospect Place and Prospect St will be closed for the next two hours.

Rescuers tied ropes to the back of the heavy SUV to stabilize it before pulling the motorist from the passenger side of the vehicle.
“By sheer luck the car landed where it was,” Battalion Commander Dave Seneviratne said.
Lifeguards were also on hand to help with the rescue, which took over an hour.
The driver was taken to hospital in stable condition and treated for minor injuries.
“The driver suffered only minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. SDFD amazing work on this very dangerous call!” the city police department tweeted.
