helsea are close to signing Brazilian starlet Andrey Santos from Vasco da Gama.
The teenage midfielder is yet to complete his medical or sign a contract, but broad transfer fee deals – an initial fee of £13m plus a further £7m in add-ons – and a contract five years are now in place.
Chelsea are set to beat Premier League rivals Newcastle in the race to sign Santos, one of Brazil’s highest-rated young players.
This follows the Blues already securing a deal in January for Ivory Coast striker David Datro Fofana, who completed his medical yesterday after an £8.6million fee was agreed with Norwegian club Molde.
Both rookies are considered players of the future by Chelsea. This could mean Santos and Fofana will return on loan early in the January transfer window with US goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina, who is now training with the club following his £12million summer switch from the Chicago Fire. of Major League Soccer (MLS).
