Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella has another half to forget with the Spaniard achieving ZERO tackles or interceptions on his return to the Amex Stadium as Brighton substitute Pervis Estupinan creates the third goal

Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella had a first-half nightmare on his return to Brighton as the Seagulls started the break 3-0.

Fans booed the Spaniard throughout the Amex Stadium following the 24-year-old’s £60million move in the summer after just one season on the South Coast.

But he struggled for consistency at Chelsea, with the versatile player yet to live up to his price tag.

Deployed as a left centre-back, Cucurella was guilty of a poor 45-minute opener with stats to back up his dismal display.

In the stats obtained by Opta, Cucurella was incredibly unsuccessful in getting a tackle and didn’t make any interceptions or clearances.

He had a passing accuracy of just 68.4% after completing just 19 of his passes.

The former Girona player also only won one of his headers.

And he lost the ball seven times when he had only touched 34 balls in the first period.

To make matters worse for Cucurella, his Brighton substitute Pervis Estupinan created the third goal.

After Leandro Trossard’s early strike and an own goal from Ruben Loftus-Cheek made it 2-0 at Brighton, Trevor Chalobah then turned the ball past Kepa Arrizabalaga.

And Estupinan created the goal by darting down the left flank before entering the box where he forced the Englishman’s own goal.

Boss Graham Potter – who followed Cucurella to Chelsea from Brighton – decided to keep the defender for the second half.

Chelsea immediately pulled a goal back early in the second half through Kai Havertz.

The German found himself on the end of Conor Gallagher’s whipping cross to divert his head past Robert Sanchez.

Potter then decided to snag Cucurella for Ben Chilwell in the 70th minute in what was a poor performance.
