The Belgian forward is back in the squad for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final with rivals Tottenham after missing the 2-2 home draw with Liverpool on Sunday.

Lukaku’s comments, in which he professed his love for former club Inter Milan and admitted his frustration with the way he was used by Tuchel, had led to media reports suggesting he was seeking a way out of the club less than six months after arriving at the club’s record spending.

“Before the interview, I never doubted that he is not engaged because his actions on the pitch, off the pitch and in his private life all point in the same direction,” Tuchel said.

“He’s an emotional guy. He doesn’t hold back with his opinions and sometimes he puts his heart on his tongue.”

“Does that reflect the general mood and attitude he shows? Absolutely no. Was the intention to create problems? Was the intention to leave the club? The intention was- “She’s to put pressure on the coach? Absolutely no. I can’t see him. Of course he should have known better. That’s what we need to clean and purify the air together.”
