Cannabis In Medicine editor Dr. Kenneth Finn shared revealing information in Tuesday’s ‘The Ingraham Angle’, warning of the impacts of cannabis in communities and says young people are far more vulnerable and at risk. risk of developing cannabis dependence problems or psychosis.
KENNETH FINN: I think it’s important for the public to really understand that the definition of high potency THC really boils down to any product containing more than 10% THC, which currently doesn’t exist in the state of Colorado, where the average smoke bud flower is around 17-20% THC. And then you get into those concentrates, then the dabs, waxes, and shards that go from 85 to 99, sometimes claiming a 100% THC product. So, science is always trying to catch up with industry because these products are generated and allowed access to our young people without real safeguards. And, you know, you talked about marijuana and suicide. I mean, marijuana is the most prevalent substance in teenage suicides here in Colorado.

We don’t know the toxicology of the Uvalde shooter or this most recent shooter in Illinois. But sometimes they can be negative because sometimes psychosis is a bridge you can’t cross. And even though the toxicology may be negative at the time, sometimes the psychosis persists for weeks or doesn’t even return to baseline. That’s kind of the big concern we have as a medical community.
