Canelo responded with a left hand that cut Plant under his right eye and put the fight in jeopardy

Before the start of the media event, the two men found themselves face to face on stage and exchanged words.

It went on for about 20 seconds until Plant apparently said something that seriously offended Canelo.

The Mexican jostled the American, but for some reason no security was about to intervene.

Plant responded by walking up to Canelo and swinging for him, but the pound-for-pound king of boxing was prepared and dodged below.

Canelo fired back with a left block and a right hand before they were finally separated.

After the clash, we could see that Canelo’s left hand block cut Plant under his right eye.

They proceeded to the press conference nonetheless, but it is currently unclear whether this injury will delay the fight or not.

Plant had a bandage on his cut after the presser

Plant was seen with a bandage over the cut after the press conference and told Showtime, “It’s just a small cut.

“It comes from my sunglasses. I had sunglasses on.

“So when what happened happened, it just scratched my cheek.”

The presser was expected to heat up following this clash with plenty of insults exchanged between the fighters.
