Camille Chamoux: “A show about time, born in the depths of the Eure”

Six years after “Née sous Giscard”, you are back with this fourth show, “Le temps de vivre”, directed by Vincent Dedienne and written with the complicity of actress Camille Cottin. How was it, composing on time in full confinement?

Well, we were confined, Camille and I, to the depths of the Eure, and that’s where we decided to write a show about time (laughs). When working in performance, the idea of time is often compressed. There she suddenly became the opposite, that is, very stretchy. We had these two perceptions of time which collided and gave rise to this spectacle.

How was your show received by the public?

There was a first crash test! In July 2020, I was able to do two performances at the Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin, in Paris, when gatherings were still very limited. We tested the show and it worked really well. Then, every night I could, I played. As in “Née sous Giscard”, the theme and the way I looked at the theme were in fusion with what was in people’s minds at the time. I can’t wait to play it in Lannion (22), I don’t know the city but I still have a ton of dates in Brittany and I can’t wait to come back.

Let’s get together from the guilt of doing anything with our free time

What does your show tell us about the passage of time?

That I’m completely unfit to handle it (laughs). He makes fun of the Parisian quadra who run everywhere. The idea is to feel less alone in your neuroses, there is no real message except to say that it is never too late and to say it by sharing experiences humorous. When people laugh, I feel less alone. Let’s get out of the guilt of doing anything with our free time together. The comedy show is a lot of de-dramatization.

This is your fourth theater show and you’re racking up film and television roles. Do you always find time for new projects?

What fulfills me is being in creation, otherwise I completely waste away. And in creation, I like the alternation of genres. I wouldn’t be able to turn only around me like in the theater, nor just be with others like in the movies. Speaking of new projects, I’m starring in a new movie, “The Peace Process”, which will be released in theaters in June 2023. It’s a great comedy, directed by Ilan Klipper, about a couple who can’t stand each other anymore and go try everything not to separate. It’s about loving each other when you can’t kill yourself anymore.

“Le temps de vivre”, by Camille Chamoux, Friday March 24 at 8 p.m. at the Carré Magique in Lannion (22), Thursday March 30 at 8 p.m. at the Dôme de Saint-Avé (56) and Sunday April 2 at 5 p.m. Archipelago of Fouesnant (29)
