Cadiz 4-2 Man United: Dour loss kicks off mid-season trip to Spain

Anchester United manager Erik ten Hag said before kick-off that he “hated” friendlies. His opinion wouldn’t have changed tonight as his side were dismissed by Cadiz.
United are in Spain for a mid-season training camp, making the most of the World Cup break, but were made tonight to look like a side that haven’t played in months.
Cadiz are embroiled in a relegation battle in La Liga, having scored just nine times all season. Tonight they hit four and were by far the better side, despite a number of United first-team players in attendance.
It was 1-0 after seven minutes as Carlos Garcia squeezed between two defenders to get past Martin Dubravka. It was 2-0 minutes later when Choco Lozano was found in Acres to return home to the zone.
Zidane Iqbal won a penalty, which Anthony Martial brought home, 10 minutes later, but United never kicked off.
Even after the break, having made 10 substitutions and with the lively Kobbie Mainoo equalizing after just three minutes, United showed little urgency.
Ruben Sobrino and Tomas Alarcon settled the game and secured a deserved victory for the hosts.
It’s only a friendly match, but Ten Hag has reason to worry. United face Real Betis on Saturday and improvements are needed.
