Britney Spears’ father has denied allegations that he installed hidden recording devices in her bedroom during her guardianship.
Jamie Spears had been accused of planting the devices during the months of testimony that led to the end of his control over his daughter’s estate.
He reportedly hid a device in Britney’s bedroom behind some furniture, along with an extra battery to allow for longer recording periods.
Former FBI agent Sherine Ebadi accused Mr Spears of ‘unconscionable violations’ of her daughter’s privacy and encouraged others to do the same.
In a new court filing, Mr Spears has denied the charges.
“I have been made aware of Britney’s attorney’s allegation that a listening device or ‘bug’ was placed (in) her bedroom for surveillance purposes during the conservatorship,” he said. he declares.
“This allegation is false.
“I have never performed or authorized monitoring of Britney’s bedroom at any time, including during guardianship.”
Lawyers called the allegations “salacious and false” in a separate filing.
Britney, 40, was fully released from her controversial conservatorship last November – an arrangement that gave Mr Spears control over his daughter’s finances and personal life for more than 13 years.
The singer went on to slam her family in testimonials and on social media for their lack of support during this time, particularly targeting her father’s role.
Last month, she married 28-year-old Sam Asgahri at their Los Angeles home, with celebrity guests including Madonna and Selena Gomez in attendance.
