Documentary filmmaker and progressive activist Michael Moore could hardly be more excited about the upcoming midterm reviews, which he says will be a landslide victory for Democrats.
But there’s a key caveat: “Everyone has to show up,” Moore said Friday on “Real Time with Bill Maher.” And “you have to bring five to ten people with you on election day. Bring beer, make it a fun thing, have an after party, whatever.
Still, he stressed, “I’ve never felt so optimistic.”
Moore pointed out that he had been booed on Maher’s platform six years earlier when he predicted Donald Trump would win the presidency.
“I think I had a pretty good idea what was going to happen. I think the opposite is going to happen this time,” Moore said. “I think there’s going to be such a landslide against the traitors, especially the 147 Republicans who, just hours after the uprising, voted not to certify United States President-elect Joe Biden.”
Moore added: “I think there will be so many people coming to vote. I want to thank the Supreme Court for reminding women that they are in fact second-class citizens and taking away their rights in this way. . . I think there is going to be such a massive participation of women.
Maher joked that for the first time ever, the midterm elections are “sexy” because the United States is essentially “on the brink of disaster,” which is, oddly, a “bright spot” because it is probable that there will be voters.
And there are “so many signs” of an upcoming Democratic victory, Moore said.
“Honestly, I think if we’re all doing our job, and if we’re all getting people out there and out ourselves, we have a chance of doing something,” Moore said. “I think we could throw out a lot of these Republican traitors in November.”
