breaking news Mi Sans Jasprit Bumrah to start his Ipl 2023 campaign against Rcb

RCB and MI begin their pursuit of IPL 2023 glory when the two teams lock horns at Bangalore’s Mr Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday. MI will be keen to trigger a nice turnaround this year after two straight seasons of failing to qualify for the playoffs. However, the five-time champions are heavily handicapped by the absence of rhythm spearhead Jasprit Bumrah.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will kick off their campaign for the 16the Indian Premier League (IPL) season by taking on Mumbai Indians (MI) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on Sunday. MI will be keen to trigger a nice turnaround this year after two straight seasons of failing to qualify for the playoffs.
However, visitors are severely handicapped by the absence of pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and the lack of quality spin bowling options in their roster. They signed Australian all-rounder Cameron Green for a whopping sum of Rs 17.5 crore at the auction held in Kochi in December.
Mumbai will need their opening duo of captain Rohit Sharma and batsman-wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan to get into the groove early on in the tournament. They are also hoping Suryakumar Yadav will regain some of his touch after a drastic run in Australia’s One Day International (ODI) series in which the batsman was fired for a golden duck in all three games.
Mumbai will however be bolstered by the presence of England express pacer Jofra Archer and he will most likely be supported by left pacer Jason Behrendorff from Down Under.
On the other hand, RCB fast bowler Josh Hazlewood will likely miss nearly half of the tournament with an Achilles heel injury. They have signed up Kiwi all-rounder Michael Bracewell as a replacement for England’s Will Jacks and it would be interesting to see if the Kiwi all-rounder has the same strong impact in the IPL that he has had in his international career so far.
Expected Game XI:
BCR: Faf du Plessis (c), Anuj Rawat, Virat Kohli Glenn Maxwell, Mahipal Lomror, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Shahbaz Ahmed, Suyash Prabhudessai, David Willey, Harshal Patel, Reece Topley.
MID: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Tim David, Vishnu Vinod, Arshad Khan, Jofra Archer, Kumar Kartikeya, Jason Behrendorff.
Key player to watch
Virat Kohli (RCB)
Virat Kohli has had a disappointing run in the league over the past two years, averaging 28.92 and 22.73 in 2021 and 2022 respectively. However, he found some touch again last year, having scored five international centuries since September 2022. It is imperative that he is in good shape with the bat for RCB to have a successful season and the former captain of the India will like to set the tone for this from the start.
Cameron Green (MI)

Green will like to play on the Chinnaswamy’s batting-friendly trail, as it suits his smooth, offensive hitting brand. He can also extract some movement from the box with the new ball and those versatile skills will inject much-needed balance into a Mumbai formation who at least on paper are in dire need of a spark that could help them succeed. victories from the jaws of defeat.
Presentation report
The average first innings score at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in 16 T20I is 135, which is quite surprising considering the short limits offered on the floor. The game between RCB and MI will most likely be a very high score encounter.
