Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday became the fourth Maharashtra politician to accept a junior government post after serving as chief minister. Fadnavis earlier today made a stunning announcement that Shiv Sena rebel leader Eknath Shinde would be sworn in as the new chief minister after the collapse of Uddhav Thackery’s government, and himself would not be part of the ministry.
A former chief minister accepting a junior post in a subsequent government is rare, but Maharashtra has witnessed such a situation in the past.
