NEW YORK (NewsNation Now) – Bradley Cooper recently recounted a terrifying incident on the New York subway as he picked up his daughter from school.
During an appearance on the “Armchair Expert” podcast, hosted by Dax Shepard and Monica Padman, the award-winning actor said he was previously held at knife threat in a Manhattan subway station.
“It was pretty crazy. But I realized I had become way too comfortable in the city, ”Cooper said. “My guard was down.”
Cooper said the incident happened in October 2019, but he did not specify which metro station.
“I felt someone come up and I thought, ‘Oh, they want to take a picture or something. “And as I was turning… I’m against the post… and I turned and I looked down and saw a knife,” the actor recalls.
Cooper said the knife was about 2 ½ to 3 inches long with a wooden handle. The actor said he has headphones on and listens to music all the time, but can’t remember the songs.
“I look up, I see the person’s eyes and I am in awe of their youth,” he said.
But what the actor did next might surprise some people. Cooper said the next thing he knew he was running.
“I just started running. I jumped over the turnstile, hidden around the white tiles [subway entrance], took out my phone. He jumped over – running away – and I took a picture of him, then chased him down the stairs. He started running on Seventh Avenue and I took two more pictures of him.
Cooper said he was able to hail two police officers in a vehicle and told them what happened.
“And the guy kept saying… ‘You’re stabbed,'” he recalls. “And he said,” No, no, check if you’re stabbed “because what’s happening is people are stabbed and they’re in shock… and I looked to see if he was right. . “
Cooper said he then got back on the subway and picked up his daughter.
It was not immediately clear if a police report had been filed or if anyone had been arrested in connection with the incident.
