Biden back after briefly handing over power to Vice President Harris

Joe Biden has resumed his presidential duties after briefly handing over power to Vice President Kamala Harris while he was anesthetized for a colonoscopy. For a short time, Harris was the first female interim president of the United States.

Biden suffered what White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki called “Routine colonoscopy” Friday morning, and in accordance with the process set out by the U.S. Constitution, Harris temporarily assumed the duties of president while Biden was under anesthesia.

Biden again assumed his duties as Commander-in-Chief shortly before noon, ending Harris’s brief tenure as the first female interim president of the United States.

Psaki said on Twitter that Biden spoke to Harris shortly after waking up, and “Was in a good mood and returned to duty at that time. “

“He will stay with Walter Reed as he completes the rest of his routine physique”, Psaki added.

Many presidents have been treated at Walter Reed Medical Center, a US military hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. Former President Donald Trump spent three days there last October while recovering from Covid-19 and reportedly visited the facility for a colonoscopy in 2019. Former press secretary Stephanie Grisham said Trump refused the anesthesia for the procedure because he didn’t want to transfer power to Mike Pence, his vice president at the time.

Former President George W. Bush also underwent the same procedure twice during his time in the White House, in 2002 and 2007, transferring power to Vice President Dick Cheney each time.
