Bernalillo County Open Space Hosts Free Seasonal Public Events

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KRQE) – Bernalillo County Open Space is hosting a series of workshops during the months of July and August. Dustin Chavez-Davis, a park resource specialist, explained what people can expect at upcoming workshops.

On July 17, a magical tale adventure will share the dynamic story of an elf who takes children to the Rio Grande. With puppets, an outdoor interactive storytelling setting promises to be a unique experience for all ages.

On July 24, Growing a Backyard Refuge will share the space assessment process to participate in the ABQ Backyard Refuge program. It will feature Bachechi Open Space as a sound management of soil and water.

On August 14, Instruments of the World with the Maxwell Museum of Anthropology presents its instruments from around the world. Participants will experience folk music, to shake, shake and beat a collection of musical instruments.

On August 28, Rio Grande: The Changing River explores the vibrant river that provides water to life in this region. The event will explore the river of the past, show changes over time and look at the future of river management.

All events are from 9:00 am to 10:30 am The events of July 17, August 14 and August 28 will be held at the Bachechi Environmental Education Building, 9521 Rio Grande Boulevard NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114.
