Benavidez vs Plant: fight time, undercard, prediction, ring walks and latest betting odds

There’s certainly no love lost between these heated rivals, who will finally settle their differences inside the ring on Saturday night.
The prize of becoming undisputed champion Canelo Alvarez’s next mandatory challenger is up for grabs as Benavidez mounts the first defense of the WBC interim title he won with a dominant third-round stoppage of David Lemieux in Arizona last May.
‘El Bandera Roja’ is undefeated as a professional at 26-0 with a fearsome 23 knockouts and has already held the full WBC title at 168 pounds twice before, reigning as the youngest world champion in the history of the division, to be stripped on the first occasion after a positive drug test, then again after dropping weight for a routine defense in 2020 against Roamer Alexis Angulo.
Many believe Benavidez to be one of the most shunned fighters in boxing today, having unsuccessfully pursued Canelo.
But he will face a tough test against Plant, the former IBF super middleweight champion who got his chance at Canelo and the chance to make history as the first undisputed title holder in the history of the division in November 2021, only to lose via 11th-round stoppage despite an admirable effort.
Plant made his comeback in October, brutally knocking out veteran Anthony Dirrell before sparking controversy for his grave-digging celebration.
