Manuel Neuer and Leon Goretzka will miss Germany’s Nations League clash with England next week after the pair tested positive for Covid-19.

The Bayern Munich pair have been forced to self-isolate and will leave their team hotel, the German Football Federation (DFB) announced on Wednesday.

Hoffenheim goalkeeper Oliver Baumann has been called up as a replacement while Wolfsburg midfielder Maximilian Arnold has also been brought in.

Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt also left camp with an unrelated illness.

A DFB statement read: “Leon Goretzka (27) and Manuel Neuer (36) tested positive for Coronavirus on Wednesday morning.

“The two national players of FC Bayern Munchen have been isolated and will be leaving the team hotel. Due to a positive coronavirus test within one of the players’ private circles, the medical team proceeded to a rapid antigen test on the entire national team.

“All coaching staff and team members are required to test negative before travelling. Confirmed contacts of both players will be tested daily.

Germany host Hungary in Leipzig on Friday before traveling to Wembley to face England next Monday.
