A film soundtrack propelled Thomas to superstardom in 1970. He was decided on to conduct the Burt Bacharach and Hal David number “Raindrops Retain Fallin’ on My Head” for the movie “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” punctuating a unforgettable scene in which Paul Newman and Katharine Ross experience a bicycle alongside one another. It was Thomas’ 1st No. 1 hit.
Thomas had various hits on the state charts in the 1980s and is also remembered for singing the concept from the sitcom “Escalating Pains” (with Jennifer Warnes), which debuted in 1985.
He is survived by his wife of 53 a long time, Gloria, and three daughters.
