Audrey Pulvar hopes for a rebound in her campaign

About twenty activists, leaflets and program in hand, on both sides of the RER station, several outgoing regional elected officials all smiles and executives of the Socialist Party (PS) who finally move. Friday May 28, 7 am in Nanterre-ville (Hauts-de-Seine), the team surrounding Audrey Pulvar seems to find color.

With the deconfinement, the spring air and the terraces which are full, the countryside atmosphere has changed for the candidates for the regional ones. For the head of the list chosen by the PS, the political air is particularly lightened.

No more rumors about the bad countryside atmosphere, no more pikes on the difficult character of the ex-journalist, forgotten resentments over the arrangement of lists.

The threat of a complaint filed by Gérald Darmanin against Audrey Pulvar following his remarks criticizing the presence of the Minister of the Interior at the police demonstration on May 19 had the effect of a electroshock.

“We come back to the center of the game”

While the whole of the left has shown its support for him, the caciques as well as the socialist activists have united behind their leader. “Watching a committed woman get beaten up by a hated minister reinforced a feeling of sympathy. We can feel it with the voters ”, assures Jérome Guedj, former deputy of Essonne, who was a time candidate for the candidacy against Pulvar. “We come back to the center of the game thanks to this story and the media are following us again”, wants to believe François Kalfon, outgoing regional councilor member of the campaign team.

The air holes in the polls and the political campaign which is slipping away now belong to the past, want to believe its supporters. The climate seems in any case more serene during the first post-containment public initiatives. The elected officials who were said to be sulking are on the ground and the activists seem to appreciate having a clear slogan with the proposal for free public transport.

“Of course we have the feeling that things are finally moving! And then, it allowed Audrey to see that the people who support her are much more numerous than the few top names who have moods “, remarks Pierre Kanuty, outgoing regional councilor and candidate for Paris.

The flagship measure of the Ile-de-France list, launched at the auction in front of schools as on the markets, obviously finds an echo. “We had a floating campaign with confinement. Free access is an advantage because it is a measure for the general public ”, explains Maxime Des Gayets, president of the PS group at the regional council.
