The 19-year-old striker is considered one of the best talents for the future
Despite interest from Wolves and Atletico Madrid, talks have continued with his club, Sao Paulo, over the past week with only final details to be ironed out.
The 19-year-old is expected to arrive at the Emirates Stadium on a reduced fee due to uncertainty surrounding his contract at the club, with the Brazilian side likely to lose him for nothing.
However, Marquinhos isn’t the only Brazilian on the club’s radar.
Arsenal are also considering signing Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.
The 25-year-old enjoyed a good season at the Etihad Stadium after scoring 13 goals and creating 12 more for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Jesus is looking for guarantees on his playing time, and with City bringing in Erling Haaland this summer, that means he can look elsewhere to meet his needs.
The player’s agent, Marcelo Pettinati, confirmed the Gunners’ interest and admitted the player “likes the project” on offer.
He said: “We have had discussions with Arsenal over Gabriel Jesus, we like the project – it’s a possibility we are discussing.
“There are six other clubs interested in Gabriel – he is focused on the last games with Man City, we will see.”
It is understood the Premier League leaders want up to £50million for Jesus and Arsenal are expected to make an offer in the coming weeks.
