A human skull was donated this week to an Arizona goodwill in a box full of other items – shocking the employees who made the gruesome discovery.
The skull was confirmed to be real and human after a Goodyear thrift store employee called police to investigate on Tuesday.
Officers showed up and removed the skeletal remains which they then took to a medical examiner’s office in case it was related to a missing persons case.
The medical examiner determined the skull was human, but investigators do not expect it to be foul play, a Goodyear Police Department spokesperson said.
“It appears to be historic, ancient and appears to have no forensic value,” said Lisa Berry, police public information officer. “And that means no crime is attached to this skull.”
It is unclear who donated the human skull which was packed among other items in the donation bin.

It is also a mystery who owns the skull, which is missing the lower jaw and whose socket is filled with a false eye.
