Apparently sick Putin surrounded by docs, Kremlin in ‘chaos’, ex-British Intel official says

A seemingly ill Russian president, Vladimir Putin, is surrounded by doctors and the Kremlin is increasingly in chaos, former British intelligence official Christopher Steele said in an interview.

Steele, who provided the infamous unverified dossier on Donald Trump’s ties to Russia suggesting possible Kremlin interference in the 2016 election, said Putin is “constantly accompanied on site by a team of doctors”, according to sources.

“The Security Council meetings which are supposed to last a whole hour are actually split into several sections…he goes out and gets some kind of medical treatment between these sections,” the former MI6 official told the British newspaper on Wednesday. talk about the LBC radio network.

Others have also speculated that Putin is ill, and point to his sometimes unusually swollen face, and sitting a great distance from French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit in February – although Macron reportedly refused to be tested for COVID -19.

Tracy Walder – who served both in the CIA’s Counterterrorism Center and as an FBI special agent – said in February that Putin both looked and behaved very differently.

Last month, Putin appeared shaky and clutched a table while talking to his defense minister.

The Week reported on an audio recording of a Kremlin-linked oligarch referring to Putin’s “blood cancer”.

Steele told Sky News that Putin’s illness could be an “element” of his sweeping invasion of Ukraine.

The Kremlin has denied that Putin is sick.

Steele insisted it was clear Putin was ill, but details are unknown. “It’s not clear how terminal or incurable it is…we can’t be entirely sure,” he added.

But it “certainly has a very serious impact on the governance of Russia right now,” Steele said.

“There is growing disarray in the Kremlin and chaos in fact, that there is no clear political leadership coming from Putin who is increasingly sick, and that under the terms of the military, the structures of command and so on are not working as they should,” he said.
