Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk: talks on the place of the rematch which will take place “in the coming weeks”

Preparations for a rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua will begin “within the next two weeks” with a venue potentially announced by the end of the year, according to the Ukrainian promoter.

Joshua lost his WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO belts to Usyk on a unanimous points decision in front of a sold-out crowd at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September.

Joshua promoter Eddie Hearn said last month the British boxer triggered his clause for a rematch against heavyweight rival Usyk and the fight could take place in March.

“We plan to meet with Eddie Hearn in the next few weeks to kick off the rematch activities,” Usyk promoter Krassyuk told Sky Sports.

“We have three options under consideration: UK, Ukraine and Middle East.

“I hope that by the end of 2021 we will be able to make the final decision.”

Hearn told talkSPORT that Joshua’s contingent would like the rematch to be held in Britain again.

“We’ve had approaches to organize this fight around the world, but the last time it was a huge show and obviously this time it’s a much bigger fight,” Hearn added.
