Anger as Trump posts photo of himself wielding baseball bat next to Alvin Bragg’s head

Donald Trump sparked anger by posting a photo of himself holding a baseball bat next to the head of the Manhattan District Attorney investigating him.

Mr Trump posted a post on his Truth Social social media platform that included a composite photo of himself next to Alvin Bragg, who accused the president of a term of office of creating “a false expectation “to be arrested this week.

The Manhattan grand jury is investigating silent payments Mr Trump is accused of making to adult actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign.

Mr Trump has repeatedly denied any sexual relationship with Ms Daniels.

But critics were quick to point to Truth Social’s message featuring Mr. Bragg and demanding action against Mr. Trump.

“This threat is an obstruction of justice and a dangerous call to violence. Everyone should speak up.” wrote author Jennifer Taub on Twitter.

“Trump today issued repeated calls for stochastic terrorists to have his cult ‘remove’ ‘the animal’ Alvin Bragg – and use a baseball bat”, tweeted former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann.

And he added, “He’s trying to get this man killed. Period. Enough.”

CNN Legal Analyst Norm Eisen also spoke about Mr. Trump’s message.

“Threatening a prosecutor is a crime in New York. Actually MULTIPLE crimes: First Degree Harassment NYPL 240.25; threatening in the second degree NYPL 120.14; fourth or third degree stalking NYPL 120.45 & 120.50 And that’s just getting started…. he tweeted.

Mr Trump’s posting came as Mr Bragg’s office lambasted the House Republican chairs of the House Judiciary, Oversight and Administration Committees, who sent a letter claiming the investigation was a “unprecedented abuse of the power to prosecute”.

Manhattan District Attorney’s Office General Counsel Leslie Dubeck called the letter sent by the presidents on March 20 “an unprecedented investigation into a pending local lawsuit.”

“The letter only came after Donald Trump created a false expectation that he would be arrested the next day and his lawyers urged you to intervene. None of these facts are a legitimate basis for a congressional investigation” , she added.
