Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called Tucker Carlson a ‘creep’ after he said a past show on Instagram Live was a ‘booty call invitation’

  • Fox News host Tucker Carlson reviewed parts of a biography on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on his show.

  • Carlson said an excerpt from the book referring to an Instagram Live broadcast amounted to “an invitation to a booty call.”

  • Ocasio-Cortez responded by tweeting that Carlson is a “creep.”

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called Fox News host Tucker Carlson a “creep” on Friday after he aired a segment about him on his show “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

On the Friday night show, Carlson commented on “Take Up Space: The Unprecedented AOC,” a forthcoming book from the editors of New York Magazine. The biography covers Ocasio-Cortez’s rise to political stardom and is set to be released on February 22.

Carlson during the segment said he had received an early copy of the book, which he called “book length” for the progressive legislator.

Carlson then featured a clip referencing one of Ocasio-Cortez’s live broadcasts on Instagram.

The excerpt, which was read aloud on Carlson’s show, read: “She has no agenda, nothing in particular to get off her chest. It’s really like she’s exhausted and wanted to talk. ‘I’m alone today,’ she says pointedly to the camera.”

Carlson called Ocasio-Cortez’s comments “a little weird” and said she was “definitely sharing too much.”

“Whoever wrote this didn’t even realize how scary it was,” Carlson said. “‘I’m alone today,’ Ocasio-Cortez says pointedly to the camera.’ Is it just us or does this feel like an invitation for a booty call? Maybe a step away from ‘What are you wearing?'”

Ocasio-Cortez responded to Carlson in a tweet on Friday, referencing her past comments calling out Republicans for what she considered their “sexual frustrations.”

“Remember when the right crashed when I suggested they show obsessive urges towards young women? Well now Tucker Carlson wants…this on national TV,” she tweeted.

“You are a dirty brother,” Ocasio-Cortez added. “If you’re so easy on on-air sexual harassment, how do you treat your staff?”

A Fox News spokesperson did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.

In the same segment, Carlson said AOC was not a woman of color, calling her a “rich, authoritative white woman.” Ocasio-Cortez’s mother is from Puerto Rico, and she called herself a woman of color several times.
