Alabama defensive back arrested for marijuana possession, intent to sell/deliver

Alabama defensive back Tony Mitchell was arrested earlier this week for drug trafficking in Florida.

The freshman was charged with possession of marijuana, as well as intent to sell and/or deliver.

His vehicle’s passenger at the time, Chrisophere Lewis, was charged with the same charges, as well as a charge of “carrying a concealed firearm without a license,” according to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office.

“During the stop, deputies detected the smell of burning marijuana coming from the vehicle,” the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office wrote on its Facebook page. “When asked if there was marijuana in the vehicle, Mitchell pulled a bag of marijuana from the passenger floor. Mitchell and Lewis were arrested.

“A search of the vehicle yielded a significant additional amount of marijuana, a scale, a loaded handgun between the passenger seat and the center console, and a large sum of cash.”
