African stars helped Murat Sonmez’s side sack to a comfortable away win in Antalya with their contributions in front of goal
Gabonese striker Aaron Boupendza scored four goals so NigeriaDavid Akintola scored a goal in Hatayspor’s 6-0 win over Antalyaspor in a Turkish Super Lig game on Tuesday.
Boupendza gave the visitors a good start at Antalya Stadium with his first goal in the eighth minute and he doubled their lead in the 17th minute.
Four minutes later, the Gabon international landed his first career hat-trick and Akintola went 4-0 in the 35th minute after receiving an assist from SenegalIt’s Mame Diouf.
Towards the end of the first half, Boupendza teamed up with his Nigerian teammate and made it 5-0 for Hatayspor while Mirkan Aydin completed the visitors’ emphatic victory on a full-time shot.
Tuesday’s heroism took Boupendza’s tally to seven goals after 12 league appearances, making the 24-year-old the second-highest African scorer in the Turkish Super Lig after CameroonVincent Aboubakar who has eight goals to his credit Besiktas.
He was substituted in the 83rd minute while Akintola was substituted in the 89th minute after bringing his tally to three goals and an assist in 11 league appearances in his debut Super Lig campaign.
The result brought Hatayspor back to victory after their 1-0 loss to Trabzonspor on Tuesday and helped to end 2020 on a high note.
Murat Sonmez’s side rose to sixth in Turkey’s top tier ranking with 24 points in 14 games. They will aim to maintain their excellent goal form when they host Konyaspor for their next league outing on January 2.
