Rain Alert: Keep up to date with today’s weather
Met Office meteorologist Aidan McGivern said: ‘From Saturday night to Sunday the temperatures rise and good weather arrives.
“We could also see showers or thunderstorms drifting north of the continent, most likely affecting the southern part of the UK on Saturday evening and Sunday, but possibly more widely later.
“At the same time, if we get some sunshine and this plume occurs, temperatures could rise.
“Early next week it is possible to see low to mid 20s quite widely, and high 20s around the southeast if we get sunshine associated with this plume.
“However, as I mentioned, it brings the threat of stormy outbreaks at the same time.”
His colleague Alex Deakin said the “warm, humid air” will “probably bring heavy thundery showers”.
“If you have plans based on the weather on Sunday, keep up to date with the forecast,” he warned.
