A thousand employees of the French pharmaceutical group Sanofi mobilized on “almost all sites” this Thursday, on the occasion of the opening of annual negotiations on wages and employment, we learned from sources concordant.

At the initiative of the CGT, the CFDT (majority) and several other unions including the Val-de-Reuil (Eure) section of the CFE-CGC, the employees “largely followed” the call for mobilization, s’ is delighted Fabien Mallet, CGT coordinator at Sanofi, with AFP.

“The unions were even surprised by the response of the employees,” he told AFP. According to management, “a little less than 1,000 employees” mobilized out of 25,000 in France.

Negotiate a collective increase of at least 3%

It was about giving voice to discontent on salary issues, while “the last negotiation, in 2020” had “resulted in disagreement and non-recognition of the efforts of employees” during the period of health crisis. linked to covid-19, explained before the negotiations Humberto De Sousa, CFDT coordinator of the group.

In 2020, the envelope obtained only corresponded to “0.6% individual increase” for employees (excluding management), he recalled.

This time, the unions hoped to negotiate a collective increase of at least 3% to meet the current price increase and obtain a level of remuneration “that sticks with the company’s ever-increasing results”.

A proposal from the company “not up to the task”

Figures far removed from the proposals made by management during this first meeting, CFDT and CGT representatives who took part in the negotiations told AFP.

“Today we are offered a 0.8% collective increase”, criticizes Jean-Louis Peyren. An offer “unacceptable”, he judges, explaining refusing that the employees of the group pay “the addition of the failures of Sanofi during the covid crisis”. “It is not up to what is expected in terms of recognition”, also commented Humberto de Sousa, who does not hide “the disappointment” of the CFDT.

Strike movement planned for December 8

The CGT has already announced a strike movement on December 8, during the second negotiating meeting. “We are calling to gather in front of the Croix de Berny site in Antony” (Hauts-de-Seine), said Fabien Mallet.

At the end of October, the pharmaceutical giant again revised its outlook for 2021 upwards, after having obtained clear growth results in the third quarter with a group’s net profit of 2.3 billion euros over the period from June to September, up almost 19% year on year.
