A gunman in Paris opens fire, killing at least 2 people

Two people were killed and a man was arrested on Friday after a shooting in central Paris, according to the city prosecutor’s office.
Four other people were injured in the shooting, two of them seriously, according to the prosecution. The shooting took place around noon on rue d’Enghien, a narrow street in the 10th arrondissement of the French capital.
The prosecution said the man who was arrested was 69 years old. His identity was still being verified, the office said, adding that it had opened a murder investigation.
The Paris police headquarters advised residents to avoid the area, citing an ongoing operation.
Emmanuel Grégoire, Deputy Mayor of Paris, said on Twitter that an “armed attack” had taken place but did not give details. “We are discussing with the police headquarters and with the prosecution to understand what happened,” posted Mr. Grégoire.
