Taking to Facebook, the woman wrote: “My mum was talking about the weeds growing between the flagstones of her driveway and path.

“I couldn’t sleep the other night, so I started googling.

“I came across this website detailing how to make your own weed killer at home.

“Bought the vinegar from Home Bargains (59p for 500ml) and she already had the rest of the ingredients needed.”

She added that her mother tried the recipe on Sunday and was quick to rave about the results.

“£1.18 was all it cost, and after using it on Sunday she said it was the best weed killer ever! Hope this helps someone,” he said. she concluded.

To make the weedkiller, use one liter of white vinegar, three large spoonfuls of salt, three large spoonfuls of dishwashing liquid.

Mix everything together and put it in a spray bottle.

Spray it on the weeds, let it sit for a few hours – or a day if possible – and when you come back the plants should be shrunken.

“Good idea!” one person commented on the post.
