‘A game we can win’ – Jamshedpur’s Owen Coyle confident of victory over FC Goa

The Jamshedpur boss wants to forget the loss to the Kerala Blasters and focus on getting three points against the Gaurs …

Three points will be Jamshedpur’s only goal when they face FC Goa in a crucial Indian Super League (ISL) clash Thursday. A win against the Gaur will help them climb back into the top four.

The Men of Steel suffered a defeat against Kerala blasters in their last game, but coach Owen Coyle suggested the team should focus on avoiding individual mistakes and aim for a win over Goa.

“We did very well. Jamshedpur took five points from his first 10 games last season, we already took 13 on our opening 10. I know there should have been more but the improvement is there for everybody.

“What we need to do is keep improving and we didn’t (win) against the Kerala Blasters because we made individual mistakes and they have very good players and a very good coach at Kibu Vicuna. But we gave them the game to eradicate individual mistakes and keep improving and we have to do that because FC Goa are a very good team, “said the Jamshedpur coach.

The Men of Steel had a 12-day break between their game against Bengaluru and Kerala Blasters, but Coyle felt the break was necessary as the team had played too many games without enough rest in December.

“There’s no harm in long gaps because before that we played a lot of games in a short period and then we had this long break.

“We want to be in the top four and everyone in the league wants to do the same. To do that we have to replicate the performance of most games in the first half of the season. If we can do that, we have a real chance and that’s what we need to focus on. “

The Men of Steel-Gaur game earlier this season produced a lot of drama as the Gaur came back from behind in the dying minutes of the game and sealed three points. A real goal from Jamshedpur was also called off despite the ball crossing the goal line.

“It’s not about avenging the defeat. Everyone saw the game, we scored the winning goal in the 89th minute which was not given for some strange reason. Even the penalty in the game , Alex Lima played the ball, it was a very soft penalty, what we can do is focus on our game.

“FC Goa have a very good coach and great players and they play a style that they have been playing for many years. All credit goes to them. But we know their strengths and weaknesses and we have to do our best. a game we can win. “
