A fire in New Jersey breaks out at a chemical plant;  resident advised to keep windows closed


A six-alarm fire broke out Friday night at a chemical plant in Passaic, New Jersey.

Passaic Mayor Hector Lora said in a Facebook Live video that all nearby residents should close their windows.

“We ask all residents to close your window, to stay away from the immediate area,” Lora said.

Lora said the fire didn’t reach the chemicals inside the plant, but noted it was spreading closer.

He also noted that no injuries were currently reported.
