7 dead in Texas highway crash; 1 in critical condition

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (AP) — A young SUV passenger involved in a head-on collision on a Texas highway that killed seven people remained in critical condition on Tuesday.
The crash between the SUV and a pickup truck that veered into an oncoming lane happened Sunday night on a two-lane highway in suburban Comal County near San Antonio.
The Texas Department of Public Safety did not immediately release the names or ages of the victims, but said in a statement that five of the killed victims were riding in the SUV, including two children and the driver.
Another young SUV passenger was transported to a San Antonio hospital in critical condition, according to the DPS.
A driver and passenger of the Ford F-150 pickup truck were pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the van hit the SUV head-on on a farm-to-market road, authorities said.
DPS said no one else was involved in the crash. No other details were immediately released.
