A six-year-old girl was killed and two other children injured after the three were run over in front of a school.
Two of the girls struck by the vehicle in Madrid, Spain – a 10-year-old girl and a 12-year-old girl – are in “serious” condition, according to local reports.
The cause of the incident is not yet known.
Police and paramedics rushed to the school, a private bilingual school in Madrid’s Mirasierra region called Montealto School, following this afternoon’s incident.
It happened around 5:30 p.m. today as the kids were leaving for the day.
The youngest of the three injured is said to have gone into cardiac arrest after being knocked down.
Attempts to save his life in one of the two emergency field hospitals set up at the scene failed.
The area where the tragedy occurred is described as “very busy” with traffic and is on a roundabout.
A single vehicle is said to have struck the three children.
It was not immediately clear whether any arrests had been made.
