The scam: When you search for travel deals online, you may find lots of deals on a travel site that you have never used before. The site will be fully functional and personalized, with autocomplete search results and working calendars that will allow you to book a flight or hotel (either directly on the site or through a customer hotline). Unfortunately, the website is a scam and only exists to take your money and credit card information.

How to avoid this scam: Look for any unknown site before sharing your personal information, and avoid travel sites that do not have the little padlock next to “https: //” in the address bar when booking. Additionally, these sites often contain a lot of typos or insane dummy text meant to be seen, not read, so watch carefully..
