5 dead in building fire in Novosibirsk, Russia
MOSCOW — A gas explosion at an apartment building in Novosibirsk, south-central Russia, killed at least five people Thursday morning, including a 2-year-old child, the regional health ministry said.
Regional Governor Andrey Travnikov said nine people were taken to hospital, two of them in intensive care.
Ten people, including two children, who may have been inside when the explosion happened at 7:43 a.m. are still missing, authorities said.
