300 Skiing Santas, a Grinch and a Tree Hit the Slopes for a Maine Charity

NEWRY, Maine (AP) — A group of Santa look-alikes took to the ski slopes to spread the cheer of the season on Sunday.

More than 300 happy elves – all dressed in red – rushed together up a mountain with white beards and Santa hats fluttering in the wind at Sunday River Ski Resort in Maine. A Skier Grinch and a Skier Christmas Tree joined in the fun.

It wasn’t exactly a winter wonderland – there was little natural snow. Snowmaking machines at Sunday River produced enough fluffy snow for the annual tradition. Santa Sunday has grown in popularity over more than two decades, raising $7,500 this year for a local charity.
