Where does India rank in the list of various team scorers in the World Cup qualifiers …

India ended their joint 2022 World Cup and 2023 Asian Cup qualifying campaign with a 1-1 draw against Afghanistan on June 15.

They finished third in Group E with seven points from eight matches. Although Igor Stimac’s side did not reach the next round of the World Cup qualifiers, they qualified directly for the 2023 Asian Cup third qualifying round.

During the campaign, Stimac’s men had three different goal scorers. Sunil Chhetri scored three goals while Adil Khan and Seiminlen Doungel scored one goal each.

Chhetri scored a goal against Oman in their very first group stage game, then scored a brace in India’s only victory in the competition against Bangladesh in the second stage. Adil Khan scored the tying goal against Bangladesh in Calcutta in the first leg and Doungel scored against Afghanistan in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

Only Sri Lanka, Nepal, Guam and Cambodia had fewer goalscorers (2) than the Blue Tigers. Iran had the most goalscorers (18).
