2022 Winter Olympics Day 14: Freestyle Skiing, Ice Hockey and More! | sport

Ice Hockey: It’s the end of the second half at the National Indoor Stadium and Finland’s narrow 1-0 lead over Slovakia remains.

cross-country skiing: Big news from earlier today – Norway’s Therese Johaug will end her Olympic career after competing in the women’s 30km freestyle event which will close the Games on Sunday. Johaug, who missed the Pyeongchang Games due to a doping suspension, has already won two gold medals in Beijing, in the skiathlon and the 10 km classic.
“Sunday will be my last Olympic race,” the 33-year-old said. “This [my decision] won’t happen until after the season, I’ll have to do a few laps with myself, it might be long.
Johaug has one last chance to add to his collection of Olympic medals, which also includes a silver and a bronze from Sochi. “I think it will be a very difficult 30 km. If it was not important before to allocate [energy] correctly on these tracks, then it will certainly be important on Sunday, ”she said.

Ice Hockey: Only one event in progress at the moment – it’s the men’s semi-final between Finland and Slovakia. We are halfway through the second period and Finland leads 1-0 thanks to Sakari Manninen’s first-half goal. The ROC and Sweden will play in the other semi-final later. Of course, there is no more USA or Canada in the tournament.

Thomas Bach: Lots to come out of the previous presser with the IOC President, including his thoughts on the Kamila Valieva saga. Suffice to say that he was not impressed by the athlete’s entourage. He also said the IOC did not want the ROC figure skater to continue competing, but given that he lost the case, the rule of law must be accepted.
Anyway, my colleague Sean Ingle was there, and his report will be coming shortly. Stay tuned.

freestyle skiing: Men’s skicross is already operational at Genting Snow Park, with the classification race to determine the formation of the 1/8 finals completed. Many Canadian flags in the top six – three to be precise – while that of Switzerland Alex Fiva topped the times after setting a 1:11.94.

freestyle skiing: So the big news so far today is that the incredible Eillen Gu picked up a second gold medal of these Games, in the women’s freeski halfpipe, to add to her big air of gold and silver in slopestyle. By pocketing her third medal, Gu – who has taken this Olympics by storm – became the first action sports athlete to win three medals at a single Olympics. Here is my colleague Bryan Armen Graham’s full report on the slopes northwest of Beijing:
