A fireworks factory in San Raymundo, Guatemala, exploded, inflicting severe burns on two people as others fled the scene. Images posted on social media show a huge plume of white-gray smoke over the city.

Two people were said to have suffered severe burns when the fireworks plant exploded in the village of Sacsuy between San Juan Sacatepequez and San Raymundo on Thursday, local media reported.

Images allegedly taken near the crash site and shared online showed dark gray clouds emerging from the factory before a bright red explosion. Other views show white smoke rising from the site.

Emergency personnel can be seen sprinkling the blaze in several of the videos, and several ambulances are believed to be at the scene. It is not yet known what triggered the explosion.

Local firefighters posted an image of the factory interior on Twitter, revealing the charred and blackened interior.
